(1) Source Code. The source code tells you how to get an item needed for maintenance, repair, or overhaul of an end item/equipment. Source Codes are always the first two positions of the SMR code. Explanations of source  codes  follows: Code PA PB PC PD PE PF PG KD KF KB Code MO -(Made at org / AWM Category) MF -(Made at DS / AVIM Category) MH -(Made at GS Category) MD  -(Made  at  Depot) AO -(Assembled by org / AVUM  Category) AF -(Assembled by DS / AVIM Category) AH -(Assembled by GS Category) AD -(Assembled by Depot) XA XB XC XD Explanation Stocked  items;  use  the  applicable  NSN  to  request/requisition  items with  these  source  codes.  They  are  authorized  to  the  category  indi- cated  by  the  code  entered  in  the  3rd  position  of  the  SMR  code. If the 3rd position code of the  SMR  code  authorizes  you  to  replace  the  item,  but  the  source code  indicates  the  item  is  assembled  at  a  higher  category,  order  the item  from  the  higher  category  of  maintenance.
